From camping under the stars in a luxury tent, to sleeping in the heart of the action, there’s nothing quite like a safari in Africa. If you’ve ever been a bit hestitant about organsing a safari holiday, SUITCASE have got it all wrapped up for you with help from their friends at Nomad Tanzania. Nomad know their stuff, having been in the industry for 20 years, so we picked their brains for the best places to sleep under the stars in Tanzania:

Lamai Serengeti

Lamai Serengeti is tucked away among the rocks of Kogakuria Kopje; with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, the lodge is perfect for exploring untouched organic wildlife activity nearby. Each room has been designed specially to fit the geometry of the Kopje, so you’re guaranteed a stunning sunset. The best time to come is migration season during June to October every year, however the rest of the year also offers immense opportunities within the varied and intricate landspace of the Serengeti.

Chada Katavi

Chada Katavi is small and intimate, maintain a personable feel. There are six tents with wide-open fronts giving panoramic views of the plain and you will be surrounded by elephants that enjoy relaxing in the shady fruit trees that are dotted around the camp. Bush walking is a popular option here as well as fly camping which involves spending a night under the stars with a candle-lit three course meal. Heaven.

Greystoke Mahale

The Greystoke Mahale camp is located on a pristine sandy beach overlooking the azur waters of Lake Tanganyika with the Mahale mountains rising behind, like Chada it is situated within the Western plains of Tanzania and its green season runs from November through to March. The scenery during this time of year is astounding with the haze lifted the forests are left feeling fresh and ready to be explored. With the parks much quieter chimp-trekking becomes far more intimate and exhilarating.
