Gone are the 80s meringue-style nightmares which plagued our mothers – today, the bridal fashion world is full of whimsical, wonderful creations to suit every bride-to-be. They’re so good, in fact, that it would be a shame to save them for your Big Day – if you even plan on having one at all, that is. Whether you’ve got a fat sparkly rock on your finger or the “m” word fills you with horror, you won’t want to miss out on these beauties. Bohemian dreamer? Check out Australian brand, Grace Loves Lace. Biker chick? Wolf & Rosie’s leather jackets have your name on them, quite literally. It’s time to rewrite the rules – wear your (non)wedding dress to work, to walk the dog, to the shops or on date. One thing’s for sure, we will never, ever be wearing our mother’s…

1. Grace Loves Lace

This Aussie brand has nailed free-spirited, boho vibes – and we’re totally besotted. Their goddess-like gowns are what holiday wardrobe dreams are made of, embracing everything from glorious French eyelash lace to scintillating silhouettes. Wear with bare feet and beachy hair.

2. Wolf & Rosie

Badass brides have been spotted in Wolf & Rosie’s hand-painted leather jackets but we’d happily sport Rosie Harbottle’s bespoke designs any day of the week. Specialising in botanical-inspired illustrations, we’d take one of these over expensive flower arrangements every time.

3. Charlotte Mills

Charlotte Mills’ bridal shoes will have you saying “to love and to cherish ’til death us do part” to your shoes rather than your partner. The designer’s effortlessly fun and playful selection set our hearts on fire with decadent metallics, glitter block heels and luxe lace-up sandals which gloriously spruce up everyday attire.

4. Otaduy

Created with the modern bride in mind, Otaduy is one of the coolest bridal brands on the block. Their latest collection, “I Do Mood” was inspired by everything from “glitter and mirror balls, the glamour of the endless parties of Studio 54 in New York from the seventies, David Bowie and Bianca Jagger climbing uphill to a horse on the dance floor”. Um, yes please. Expect lace, dreamy fringing, a cream biker jacket we’d want to wear for eternity and evermore.

5. Katya Katya Shehurina

For those who love all things vintage, Latvian designer Katya Katya Shehurina’s dresses are spot on. All of the label’s creations are made in Shehurina’s studio in Riga, using the finest modern and vintage-inspired French laces, Italian silks and handmade embellishments.
