As New York Fashion Week comes to a close and we jump into another round in London, we’re taking a pause to reflect on our favourite looks so far. While high-flying motorcycles and unannounced street performances made for some fun and certainly helped to liven our Instagram feeds, we’re most interested in quality craftsmanship, thoughtful concepts and intriguing designs. Over the past few years, NYFW has seen countless designers drop from the programme – Rodarte and Altuzarra being two of the most recent. As the schedule dwindles, it’s evident that there’s a struggle to keep things vibrant. The city still hosts a few big names including Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Coach, in addition to a select group of young and emerging designers such as Sies Marjan, Brock Collection and Adam Lippes. However, this season left us wanting more. There were few complete collections that felt original and exciting throughout. Discovered amid the clutter, here’s our selection of standout looks.
