Whether you’re off discovering hidden towns in Europe, glamping in an African desert, or sailing the Caribbean, every holiday should have an element of comfort. That’s where expert travellers and designers Valerie Mattos and Gabriella Zavatti come in.
While Gabriella grew up balancing her half-Australian, half-Italian background and upbringing in Hong Kong, Valerie spent her early childhood in Colombia before going to boarding school in Switzerland and hopping over to the US for university. Now they both spend a majority of their time in Europe, but still split their time between countries.
After years of living out of suitcases, the duo recognised the necessity of smart packing, which inspired them to co-found loungewear label Più. Cosy evening wear is a traveller’s best friend, yet the genius of Più pieces is their versatility – the secret of a master packer.
Made for multitasking, the “pajamas” are designed to be worn beyond the bedroom. The classic sets feature sleek trimming and back pockets on the trousers, while the tunic-style breaks away from the traditional pyjama silhouette. Pair one of their tops with jeans, a simple belt and trainers – a failsafe option for whatever the day brings. Alternatively, throw on their trousers with a tee and leather jacket or blazer for easy in-transit attire. Additionally, there’s the option to customise your outfit with a monogram or motif.
While day-to-night pyjama dressing isn’t new, the Più fabrics make it more practical. The bamboo-cotton blend is washable and doesn’t wrinkle easily – bring on the long layovers and sleepless adventures.
For now, the brand offers a succinct collection for men, women and children, but with their quick success more is sure to come. For SUITCASE, Valerie shared her pro-packing tips, hotel hotspots and dream destinations.
What’s your packing preference – fold, flat, or roll?
Your must-pack shortlist?
Più pjs, running gear, my beauty products, laptop, iPhone and AirPods. The rest I don’t mind buying again at my destination.
Tell us your dream destination?
What is your favourite hotel?
Day-to-night itinerary dressed in Più:
Today I was wearing the black-and-white piping Più shirt with my favourite pair of mum jeans, a black blazer and burgundy velvet slippers. After work, I changed the jeans for a leather mini skirt, that was it.
What’s your simple pleasure?
What are the best ways to style Piú pieces?
Wear the tops with your favourite jeans, moccasins or trainers. The trousers look great with an oversized knit sweater and boots, and I would combine the whole set with oversized earrings, a Colombian mochila (backpack) and velvet slippers.
