For Volume 21: The Islands Issue we visited Fogo Island, the edge of Canada’s Newfoundland, where a rocky shoreline merges tradition and contemporary design. The region is made up of 11 small villages that focus on fishing, boat-building and native art while integrating modern architecture and environmentally friendly components. Photographer Lucia O’Connor-McCarthy and fashion director Tona Stell shot model Charlotte Carey in the chilly landscape where piercing North Atlantic waters meet dense fields and forests on the eastern-most tip of Canada.
