The Hoxton, Holborn
The Hoxton, Holborn is a new hospitality group that has managed to offer its guests exceedingly good value by doing away with hotel paraphernalia that no one really uses. The Hoxton, Holborn is the first of three properties within the group (the other two are in Shoreditch and Amsterdam). At a base rate of £89 a night you’ll be hard-pressed to find anything lacking at this hotel that would explain the low price. This is a truly no-bullshit hotel – expensive mini bar? Nope, you’ll find the milk and mineral water are complimentary in your room. Extortionate charges for using the phone? At The Hoxton, Holborn you get an hour free every day to call anywhere in the world. Obviously wifi is free. And you get free breakfast delivered to your door in a little brown bag every morning. Downstairs the reception area blends into a buzzing café and restaurant, while in the basement you’ll find The Chicken Shop, which specialises in delicious rotisserie chicken. Check out the Cheeky nail bar and Holborn Grind café adjacent to the property.

All 174 rooms at the Hoxton are comfortable, practical and design-forward. They are broken up into four sizes – shoebox, snug, cosy and roomy. You decide how big you want to go depending on budget. The Hoxton has rethought the concept of a hotel room and stripped the non-essentials – a huge wardrobe with fusty hangers, an awkward mini-bar with extortionate bottles of water, the sewing kit that you’ve never, ever used – and replaced them with things that you actually need. So a complimentary mini-bar, free wifi, a little desk with so many CONVENIENT POWER POINTS (sorry we got excited) free phone calls, free breakfast bag and more power points right next to your bed. Rooms from £149.
You get a breakfast bag with a banana, yoghurt and granola and orange juice. You can have a larger breakfast downstairs at Hubbard & Bell.
Lunch and Dinner?
Try Hoxton’s main restaurant Hubbard & Bell, where you can find modern bistro food, or head to the basement where you can gnaw on half a rotisserie chicken with chips and coleslaw at Chicken Shop.
Is there a Bar?

Wifi, a breakfast bag, one-hour of free phone calls, mini-bar items

Sir John Soane, a professor of architecture at the Royal Academy, spent his lifetime building up his museum. Situated just north of Lincoln’s Inn Fields, it was transformed into a place for art and architecture students to come and study from the expansive collections.
