We’re giving away a three-night stay at Godney Arts House in Somerset thanks to Silent Pool Gin and CoolStays.
Despite being just a two-hour drive from London, Somerset feels worlds away. Its glorious countryside dotted with honey-stone cottages set against a backdrop of unspoilt views never fails to seduce weary city folk. In-the-know artisans have lived here for years – and a new gang of young creatives are moving in.
As winter takes hold and urban life becomes increasingly grey, we wanted to give you and five friends a reviving hit of fresh air and some fireside downtime via a wholesome escape to the countryside.
Partnering up with artisan distillers Silent Pool Gin, we’re getting your escape off to a merry start by gifting you several bottles of their botanical blend. Combining flavours of lavender and chamomile with fresh citrus notes, velvety honey and juniper, it’s our new favourite tipple.
Equally “spirited” is your chic three-bedroom cottage near Wells – a pretty town known for its gothic cathedral – for you and five friends to escape to. We scoured through CoolStays’ definitive collection of amazing places to stay before settling on this noteworthy spot.
Super-stylish Godney Arts House will be your home for a long weekend. As the name suggests, this West Country bolthole is kitted out for a cosmopolitan crowd, featuring exposed wood, slate floors, architectural lighting, retro furnishings and eclectic artwork. Throw in king-sized beds and freestanding bathtubs and it won’t take long to slow your pace of life.
Once straws have been drawn and room selections made (the attic room is our favourite), head back downstairs to the living room, where you can sprawl out on oversized velvet sofas for a soul-nourishing evening of long chats and longer juniper-infused drinks by a roaring fire.
Come morning, wander down to the local market to stockpile fresh flowers, sliced sourdough and homemade preserves, as well some hearty local produce to cook up a storm come dinner. Don’t worry about booze though – your drinks order is sorted thanks to Silent Pool Gin. A restorative trip to the countryside is about balance, after all.
