Story: I came to Mallorca with one goal in mind: to visit the adults-only haven of Fontsanta Hotel. With a thermal spa and a focus on wellness, it’s one of my favourite places to relax.
The hotel is found on the southern coast of Mallorca, on the edge of the town of Salinas, where iridescent salt flats give way to the 10km-long Es Trenc beach – don’t be surprised if you see a little nudity here.
With simple yet elegant interiors, lush olive gardens and lavender-lined walkways, the Fontsanta Hotel pairs beautifully with its surroundings. It’s like a visual detox. Curtains cascade around traditional windows. The sandy palette echoes the warmth of the hotel’s welcome.
Fontsanta serves divine food, its menus spotlighting Mallorca’s best local produce including salt from the Sal De Mallorca factory – just 300m from the hotel – deliciously rich wine from the neighbouring bodegas, freshly pressed olive oil, figs, oranges and, of course, fish.
I relax as my eyes wander from the stone to wood, to lavender and back to stone. I’ve left my phone in my room and walk barefoot from the pool to the hotel’s flourishing garden where bees hum.
In the thermal spa – Mallorca’s only one of its kind – I steam in peace. Over the gently murmuring waters, I hear the faint calls of wild pigeons and chirping crickets, the whisper of guests around the pool, the occasional giggle.
Fontsanta Hotel is my safe haven, a place where – even if just for a quick weekend fix – my senses are reset.
