ISHKAR Four Forests Ring
Inspired by the view of Afghanistan's verdant fields when flying over the country, this unique silver ring is perfect for everyday wear.
Crafted by Waqas, an Afghan refugee born in Pakistan who returned to his country to study jewellery-making, the pine-green stone is known to locals as Bamiyan turquoise. Mined close to the Buddhas of Bamiyan - two 6th-century monumental statues of Gautama Buddha carved into the side of a cliff which were destroyed by the Taliban in 2001 - this piece tells a story of heartache and hope.
ISHKAR wants to ensure that craftsmanship in war-torn countries not only survives but thrives. Founders Edmund Le Brun and Flore de Taisne create economic opportunities for local artisans, support NGOs and go beyond the headlines to challenge perceptions and keep ancestral skills alive.
