Mumbai has a ferocious energy akin to an unrelenting child. It’s impulsive, high-octane and bursting with gusto. Home to India’s most prolific film industry, punishing pollution and a lot (and we mean a lot) of people, in Mumbai you’ll encounter chaotic bazaars, colonial-era architecture and a pace that is sure to outrun you.

In a sea of corporate options, Abode’s boutique charm is a welcome rarity. Located in the heart of Colabra – a long road flanked with stalls selling everything from kolhapuri slippers and silk saris to spice boxes and hand-crafted puppets – there’s an air of busyness to Adobe’s surrounds. Inside, vintage furniture, hand-crafted fabrics and paintings by local artists dominate. Added luxuries include a spa which also offers in-room treatments.

Horn Okay Please

Horn Ok Please is a slogan commonly found emblazoned across the back end of vehicles in India. A hostel, which typically evokes memories of snoring strangers and questionable bedding, it’s much more than simply an economical place to lay your head. With hand-crafted wooden bunks, wall art, vibrantly tiled bathrooms and a vegan breakfast, it’s Mumbai meets Shoreditch.

Soho House

Soho House’s Asian premiere is aptly set within Mumbai’s glittering movie district, Juhu. The group’s first venture outside Europe and the US guests can expected a similar set up to its other international outposts. Interiors are proliferated with eclecticism – from hand-printed cushions to bulbous, glazed lamps – plush private cinema and, as ever, Cecconi’s is right next door. Post check in, head for breakfast by the pool on the roof, with views of the Arabian Sea on one side and the entangled city on the other.
