This glass-fronted bakery has a window stacked with giant, buttery-coloured meringues, but the shop’s flaky steak pasty is the real reason to pay it a visit. Peppery, juicy meat in a pocket of crumbly shortcrust pastry. If there is a better pasty in all of Cornwall, we’d like to see it.

Porthminster Beach Café St Ives

This seafront spot focuses on seasonal local seafood with flavours borrowed from Asia, Australia and Europe. Try their house specialty to start – a heap of crispy squid with miso, squid ink and black spice – then follow with coconut and tamarind monkfish curry or hand-dived scallops with radish, apple and tarragon. Come here for dinner, when candles flicker in jars on the front steps.

Stein's Patisserie Padstow

Rick Stein is the King of Padstow and reigns supreme in this town. Visit Stein’s Patisserie for pasties, freshly baked bread and tarts. Come summer, their giant meringues are filled with fresh Cornish cream and piled with strawberries. Delightful doesn’t even cut it.

The Seafood Restaurant Padstow

Jill and Rick Stein’s renowned restaurant recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. Equally delightful however is Rick Stein’s Café. Pop in for lunch to try their exceptional fish dishes, like warm mackerel salad with tangy sundried tomatoes and a glass of Rick’s Castilla y Leon white wine.

Roskilly's Padstow

This family-run restaurant has been serving ice cream to Padstow for decades. Choose from a collection of artisanal flavours like orange and mascarpone, sherry trifle or Cornish cream tea, which includes pieces of soft-baked scone.

Fresh from the Sea Port Isaac

Local fisherman Calum Greenhalgh runs this treasured fish shop and café along with his wife Tracey. The shop specialises in crab and lobster caught by Calum, who is out on the water for up to 12 hours a day on their beloved boat. We met him on the beach to have a look at the morning’s catch, before jumping on the back of his truck and winding up the hill to the restaurant. There Tracey prepared us a ridiculously delicious whole lobster, served with nothing but fresh lemon and a glass of cold white wine.

Quay Bakery Fowey

Follow your nose for inventive sweet treats like sticky toffee muffins with hot toffee sauce, or classic bakes like rosemary and sea salt focaccia.

The Well House Fowey

This is Fowey’s oldest house, and a charming little place for cream tea and a warm welcome.
