New York Botanical Garden
If the concrete jungle starts driving you crazy, take an excursion to The Bronx to visit the New York Botanical Gardens. Not only is it a good excuse to visit the outer boroughs (stop by Bronx’s Little Italy for an old-school Italian meal to fuel your walk), the gardens themselves are stunning and feel a world away from the Manhattan madness. Make sure to check the website for special pop-up exhibits; last summer the gardens played host to particularly photogenic Chihuly installations.

Since the first 1976 Rooms artist invitation to transform the building’s unique spaces, a long-standing tradition cultivated. An exhibition space as opposed to a collectors institution, the experimental energy that pumps through the oldest contemporary art installation in the US is electric. A true artistic laboratory made up of expansive studio space, boiler-room galleries and outdoor exhibition space; MoMa is as diverse, innovative and resourceful as Queens itself.
