La Casona del Molino

La Casona del Molino is one of Salta’s ever-popular peñas – places where you can eat, drink and listen to traditional live folk music. It’s always bustling with a mixed crowd of locals and gringos looking to enjoy the tunes with a few glasses of Argentinian wine. It’s by no means off the tourist trail, but there’s a good reason that La Casona is constantly recommended as a must do for anyone visiting Salta. The music doesn’t get going until around ten in the evening and reaches its peak well past midnight. Make sure you arrive hungry and try their empanadas (which rival El Buen Guesto’s) and humitos.

Bier Cerveza Artesanal

While in town, you should make the most of the opportunity to try Salta’s craft beers at Cerveza Artesanal. The brewery’s own product is available on tap, along with a range of bottled craft beers from across Argentina. The bar itself is bright and colourful, and the perfect destination for a laid-back afternoon or evening with friends.

Café del Tiempo

Located in Salta’s prime nightlife spot, Balcarce, Café del Tiempo turns into a buzzy live music spot in the evenings. The program is constantly changing, but jazz and blues are very much the focus. Drinks-wise, there’s a wide selection of well-chosen wines and beers to see you through the night. If you fancy moving on, take your pick from the numerous bars and clubs in the area.
