Potato Head Folk

Straight from Bali’s sun-kissed shores to the Garden City, this Indonesian concept bar is the ultimate hipster hangout. Expect flamboyant fun and food across Potato Head Folk’s four-floored restored shophouse on Chinatown’s picturesque Keong Saik Road. Start street-level at Three Buns restaurant a gourmet burger in globe-trotting flavours such as the smokin’ b-boy with treacle-cured bacon or the crab patty with salted egg mayonnaise. Pull up a chester eld in the dimly lit Studio 1939 bar upstairs with a sparkling Jiminy Cricket cocktail before heading to the rooftop garden, a tiki-style oasis among the city roofscape.

Jigger & Pony

Named after the double-coned measuring device used by bartenders, Jigger & Pony is a wood-clad 19th-century throwback with serious style. Its comprehensive drinks menu includes spirit flights and punch bowls, bringing together premium ingredients – even the ice is hand-carved daily – and craftsmanship to intoxicating effect. The bar was awarded eighth spot among Asia’s best bars of 2016, and has received recognition on the global stage. Cocktail options are split between classic, vintage and signature tipples such as the tropical gin fizz hailing from Twenties Manilla and the corpse reviver #101, a potent blend of vodka, elderflower liqueur, jasmine vermouth and absinthe jelly.

Super Loco Customs House

Go for the tacos, stay for the tequila. This modern take on a Mexican cocina y bar at the Fullerton waterfront offers panoramic views across Marina Bay Sands. The food menu is inspired by the founders Christian and Julian Tan’s Mexican travels, with soft-shell crab tacos, truffle tostadas and agave pork belly with barbecued pineapple. But it’s the restaurant’s beverage menu that have everyone saying: “Olé!” It offers ten types of margaritas – try the cactus concoction – and an impressive catalogue of 80 tequilas, mezcals and raicillas.

Cherry

Tucked beneath Orchard Road’s York Hotel, this covert joint is underground in every sense of the word. Unlike many Singapore clubs, Cherry is a hip-hop hangout that oozes an Eighties vibe.
Look out for dazzling neon signs and old-school arcade games. The chequered dance floor is surrounded by VHS-style visual projections and plush pink velvet sofas.

Resident DJs Drem and Rattle drop tunes from the likes of Kendrick Lamar, R L Grime and Flosstradamus while three-time DMC world champion DJ Craze and veteran DJ Andrew Chow often feature on the programme. Open Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights only.
