In the morning...

DUMBO

The cobblestone streets on Brooklyn’s East River form a cool district for aesthetes, its red-brick warehouses converted into galleries, homeware and antiques stores. Discover The Powerhouse Arena, Berl’s Brooklyn Poetry Shop or Smack Mellon, a gallery championing female artists.

For the afternoon...

Guggenheim Museum

While it holds an impressive collection of modern art, the Guggenheim is perhaps best known for the building’s iconic geometric, circular design by architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Its permanent collection features America’s largest selection of Kandinsky paintings alongside names such as Picasso and Manet.

Casa Lever

Modern art and boundary-breaking architecture (Lever House was designed by Gordon Bunshaft) here set the stage for traditional Milanese cuisine. Pop into the bar for a quick bite or dine in the restaurant where 19 iconic original Warhol portraits are displayed.

Come evening...

Carnegie Hall

Having recently celebrated its 125th anniversary, Carnegie Hall ranks among Manhattan’s – and indeed the world’s – most idolised concert venues for both classical and popular music. With around 250 performances each season, its programme is brimming.

The Lambs Club

Named after the venerable social club for the actors, songwriters and performers who previously occupied the Chatwal Hotel, Geoffrey Zakarian’s luxe restaurant transports diners back to the age of glamour. Enjoy seasonal contemporary American cuisine amid faded portraits of New York’s finest.
