Sal Bazaar

This is arguably Berlin’s most interesting and original shopping destination. Like all concept stores worthy their salt, Sal Bazaar combines fashion, limited-edition objects and special finds from around the world with character and aplomb. Designers like BLESS, Eckhaus Latta and Lemaire rub shoulders with traditional Japanese kimonos and woven rugs from Ethiopia. Plus, the ever-changing interior will leave you with plenty of deco inspiration for your own home. This is Berlin’s magic shop adding just the right dose of “sal” to your retail experience.

International Wardrobe

Tucked away down a fairly inconspicuous street, this small store opens up a treasure trove of folkloric clothes and textiles from places like Romania, India, Nepal, and Vietnam. Using the overused word “unique” to describe the items would not be an overstatement, as almost all pieces are family heirlooms sourced by the owner during her travels. Allow your hands to wander over meticulous embroideries and fine garments – you’ll be seduced in a heartbeat. Best of all? It’s actually affordable.

Das Neue Schwarz

Forget sad remnants of past seasons or second-hand clothing whose only asset is a fancy designer label — this shop belongs to a whole different league. With a particular focus on Raf Simons, Yamamoto, Helmut Lang and Margiela, Das Neue Schwarz (“the new black”) curates a fine selection of garments and accessories. Most items are unworn, and if they are, their condition is pristine. A veritable vintage paradise.

René Talmon - L’Armée

Inside a dimly lit, sombre space, antique cabinets and glass domes host one-of-a-kind jewellery made from oxidised silver, yellow gold and precious stones. At once rough and delicate, each piece has character and a story to tell. This is René Talmon’s cosmos and it engulfs you in its remarkable atmosphere the moment you step in. You’re transported to what feels like a bygone era of devoted craftsmanship and romanticism.
