la-guide

No longer the vapid cliché overrun with wannabes, the chameleon of California has shredded its tinsel town reputation in favour of a more dynamic stance. Forget what you know about the Los Angeles of reality TV because we’re about to re-educate you.

A city made up of mini-cities, crowds flock from overworked metropolis’s (New York and London, we’re looking at you) to enjoy LA’s enviable, laid-back lifestyle. Palm trees pepper the pavements and each micro-town offers a fresh burst of culture, food and style without the need to change state.

Navigating Los Angeles is one of the biggest challenges and no one wants to be stuck on the 101. Uber rules, but order it half hour before you need to be anywhere because, ugh, traffic. Lyft will have you meeting some interesting characters and will take you the long way round. Walking is unheard of, but don’t be afraid to try it.

Pound the pavements of Venice Beach boardwalk, find freedom in the beaches of Malibu, drink and dine your way through the bold and bright West Hollywood and discover the cause of the regeneration in Downtown Los Angeles Art District. With 360 days of sunshine – a fact Angelenos are extremely proud of – LA light is an ethereal myth that will have everything beaming brighter. It’s a welcomed, radiating boost that washes over the vibrant city injecting everything with a healthy dose of the D.
