The Kissing Pigs Bonifacio

This establishment’s curious name certainly turns heads. A cosy stone-walled venue on the waterside, The Kissing Pigs is first and foremost a wine bar, and its varied and lengthy list is what initially attracts customers. But they stay for the fantastic charcuterie, perfect grills and local cheese. Unsurprisingly, pork is a mainstay on the menu, with figatellu making a starring appearance.

The ever-changing menu boasts delicate seafood dishes and high-quality meat cuts with imaginative trimmings. The main event is followed up with artistic desserts using the best of the season’s bounty. The setting is beautiful, too; all white table cloths and vases of flowers inside, and a terrace under a canopy of stars outside. Make sure you dress to impress.

Col Tempo Bastia

For a taste of the sea, Bastia’s stylish Col Tempo is hard to beat. Serving up a menu of dainty fish dishes in a bistro-style setting, Col Tempo is spearheaded by creative young chef Clément Calendini. It enjoys a sought-after spot at the old harbour. For a set price per person you can enjoy the menu of the day, which may include seared sea bream served on a bed of garlicky mussels, or a generous mound of seasonal salad topped with king prawns.

Le 24 Corte

The mountainous village of Corte has a clutch of brilliant dinner spots. One of them is Le 24: a laid-back restaurant with an impressive wine list. A favourite with locals, the ever-changing menu brims with Corsican specialities and offers tapas-style dishes, such as tempura prawns and oysters. It’s unassuming from the outside, while the interior is stylish and pared down with stone walls and menus scrawled on chalkboards.
