Agadir, Morocco.

Why now?

With 300 days of sunshine a year, Agadir is a solid bet for kissing goodbye to the winter months with a city-beach break. The crescent-shaped promenade is the liveliest part of town, perfect for people-watching over fresh seafood or a hearty tajine, though the  city itself is also well worth a wander. Explore the souks and Agadir’s popular Sunday market, and be sure to pencil in the time to visit the town’s Kasbah, which dates back to 1541.

Don’t miss…

If you want to do more with your beach time, book a couple of days at Blue Waves Surf House in Agadir’s Anza neighbourhood. Oceanfront rooms can be shared hostel-style or booked privately, and the camp offers surf lessons from noob to expert.

The city is bookended by the Atlantic and the Anti-Atlas Mountains (a slightly less intimidating range than the Atlas Mountains) which are popular among trekkers. Book a guide and head out to the hills for a leg workout between beach sessions – you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views of the Sahara Desert.
