Fallen Angel

If you fancy a drink in eclectic surrounds, Fallen Angel is the one. Leopard skin is a central design theme, board games hang from the ceiling and, in-keeping with the angelic name, cherubs adorn the interior. The food here is good  and the cocktails even better. If the weather is good, sit outside and enjoy your drinks in the pretty garden. Gay-friendly, book ahead.

El Jardin Secreto

Just a five-minute walk from the Plaza de Armas is El Jardin Secreto, this is one of the rare bars in Cusco where the mix of locals and travellers is about even. On Saturday night there’s live music, but on most evenings it’s a pretty safe bet if you’re looking for a night of drinking and dancing. The decor is unusual and makes you feel like you’re in a garden. Remember to bring a jumper in the colder months.

Mushrooms is the place to go if you like a drink with a view. Overlooking the Plaza de Armas, this second-floor bar has arguably the best vistas over the square, with a laid-back day time vibe and the perfect place for people watching if you sit by the window. When night falls it ramps it up a notch: happy hour is from 6-8PM with two-for-one cocktails, and the bar becomes a club after 11PM.
