TO DRINK + DANCE

École Privée

Literally meaning Private School, L’École draws in a playful bunch of PYTs dressed to the nines. The crew behind this club was aiming to create something with the atmosphere of one of New York‘s classic nightclubs – somewhere people really come to dance and have a wild night out. And boy did they succeed. Be sure not to miss the cheeky back room – the red-lit walls are plastered with risqué nude photos that are the classic backdrop to any Insta pics taken here.

Mayfair

Montreal’s newest high-end cocktail bar will make you feel as though you’ve been transported back in time to the Victorian era. Taking its inspiration from a classic tearoom (menu included), this club feels like a lavish country home with its chandelier and velour chaise lounges by the fireplace. Break out your party dress and flirting skills and head here for crafty cocktails in Gatsby-style glasses.

Apartment 200

Designed to resemble a cool 20-something’s loft decked out with billiards, huge windows and a slew of arcade games to boot, Apt. 200 is your answer to a house party while playing tourist in a new city.

Once you’ve picked up a G&T at the street-level bar, head downstairs with your crew. You’ll be led through lantern-lit catacombs before arriving on the speakeasy-style underground dance floor. Be warned: mischief will undoubtedly ensue.

Big in Japan

This sleek, candlelit locale is ultra cool for date night or for a chilled-out catch up with friends. The bar has some of the best cocktails in the city; we suggest the ‘Tokyo mule’ or ‘apple cinnamon’, both made with sake. If you’re looking for something stronger, ‘between the sheets’ is your best bet (and is a surefire aphrodisiac if drunk on the aforementioned date night).

New City Gas

While you have to be ready for a seriously raucous night if you decide to head to NCG, it will definitely be one of your best. With a constant lineup of DJs such as Steve Aoki, Disclosure and Sam Feldt, this venue is a spot-on representation of this city’s obsession with live music. Hop on somebody’s shoulders at the front of the crowd or snag a VIP table to watch the show from the second-level loft area.

Flyjin

This resto-club is one of the city’s top picks. Start the evening off with a big dinner with friends (their selection of Asian dishes is incredible) and stick around for when it turns into a club – if you’re feeling up to it, arrange to hold on to your table for the evening and order a bottle. The music is pumping and the crowd is always up for a good time, so wear your dancing shoes.

Bar à Sabrage La Champagnerie

What better way to celebrate a birthday or even just the end of the week than by sabering a champagne bottle? Gather a group of friends and head to this chic bar that truly captures the essence of Montreal’s fun-loving spirit.
