Fig

The most notable happy hour on the Westside, this Santa Monica staple houses an impressive farm-to-table restaurant. As we’re yet to experience its fare, we’ll talk about what we know – the barrel of booze on offer. Despite its Fairmont hotel location, the purchasing of either one or 15 bottles of discounted vino isn’t frowned upon. So, prop yourself up on the pewter bar and try not to make eye contact with the speedo-wearing Europeans sunning themselves poolside.

The Bungalow

A beachside favourite that is reminiscent of a Malibu coastal home, and is probably the closest you’ll come to lounging in one. The décor is rustic beach house with well-worn armchairs, vintage surfboard and college pool table. Snag a spot around the fire pit for both beachside views and beautiful people watching.

The Misfit Restaurant and Bar

Just off of Ocean Avenue lies this gastropub that Brooklynites flock to. Managing to serve both comfort food – try the mac ‘n’ cheese with homemade chorizo – and health-conscious salad brunch bowls, the wood-panelled, back-to-basics bar suits everyone. Knock back a few jugs of their signature white sangria or make your way through the 30 craft beers that are on tap.
