Holidays have been halted and once-in-a-lifetime-trips cancelled, but while we’re mourning our paused plans, the wider travel industry is suffering. Each week we’re shining a light on small, independent hotels and sharing their stories of resilience in the face of coronavirus. This week, we check in with Nathan Sharma, owner of Monastero Santa Rosa Hotel & Spa, an indulgent spa hotel carved into the cliffs of the Amalfi Coast.
Shining a light on one of the brilliant independent hotels we can’t wait to check in to again
How have you rallied during coronavirus?
While we’ve been incredibly fortunate to not have been badly affected by COVID-19 on the Amalfi Coast, the way it has tragically played out in other parts of Italy means that all of our team have remained home to help prevent the spread.
We have introduced cooking demonstrations on our IGTV channel to keep la dolce vita alive and inject some much-needed inspiration into people’s daily lives. We’ll keep on serving a taste of the Amalfi Coast to people through recipes for carbonara and seafood linguine.
Any uplifting stories among the doom and gloom?
We illuminated the hotel in the colours of the Italian flag to show our support to the rest of the country and act as a beacon of hope for our community.
All of them. They are all making incredible sacrifices during these difficult and testing times.
One thing we should know about your hotel…
We benefit from something that’s not too common on the Amalfi Coast: space. Plus, our team can lead you to some of the best hiking trails around.
How can we support you?
Keep Italy in your hearts and mind – and please come visit our beautiful region as soon as you can.
