Days 1-3: London

You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to picking a London hotel, but the Rosewood – one of 975 FINE HOTELS & RESORTS properties worldwide – is a firm favourite. Following a refurbishment, this five-star Edwardian offering combines English heritage and sleek design, with a classic-cum-contemporary restaurant and bar where you have £85 to spend thanks to The Platinum Card.

The surrounding area is home to some of London’s finest boutiques, while the streets buzz with exciting new restaurants and established dining options. We suggest Brasserie Zédel for French-inspired dishes served with a side of live music in a glittering subterranean setting, but if you’re after something more exotic you can’t go wrong with edamame truffle dumplings at Yauatcha.

Don’t miss kitchen tours, special menus and complimentary drinks – just call the Platinum Concierge service, always on hand to take care of dinner reservations or source tickets to sold-out shows. Breakfast at the Rosewood is also complimentary, but we recommend exploring the streets of Notting Hill and indulging in elevenses at Granger & Co.

Days 3-4: Oxfordshire/The Cotswolds

To reach the Cotswolds’ tranquil villages and golden-stone cottages, take advantage of 15% discount on car hire when you book through Platinum. Stay at Raymond Blanc’s Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in the picture-perfect village of Great Milton. Surrounded by pristine grounds and complete with a renowned cookery school, this 15th-century manor house is both intimate and luxurious.

Booking through FINE HOTELS & RESORTS means you will enjoy a noon check-in (when available), giving you more time to spend in the two Michelin-starred restaurant that uses organic produce from the kitchen garden. With £85 of food and drink credit, the menu really is your oyster. The following morning, tear yourself away with a drive up to Blenheim Palace. The birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, this stately home is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and houses one of the most important collections of furniture and sculpture in Europe.

Day 4: Stratford-upon-Avon

On your drive to the Peak District, make a pit stop in Stratford-upon-Avon, famous for being Shakespeare’s hometown. Wander over to the Royal Shakespeare Company for lunch and enjoy traditional British fare with countryside views from their rooftop restaurant and bar.

Days 4-5: Peak District

The Peak District is the place to fill your lungs with fresh air and reset. Soak up nature at a leisurely pace with an easy walk to Win Hill, or channel your inner sporting ace with a two-and-a-half hour hike to Kinder Scout. For a stylish stay, look no further than The Peacock at Rowsley, a former 15th-century private residence. Sink into antique armchairs surrounded by stone walls and exposed beams in your en-suite bedroom before filling up on local dishes in their esteemed restaurant.

Day 6: Yorkshire Dales

Peppered with chocolate-box villages, heather fells and winding rivers, the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District are among the most handsome destinations that you’ll experience on your trip.

Channel your inner Robin Hood at the Aysgarth Waterfalls (scenes from the Prince of Thieves were filmed here), and then take a detour to the sleepy village of Cartmel, famed for its sticky toffee pudding and home to one of the UK’s best restaurants, L’Enclume. Heading east, inhale some North Sea air along the coast, stopping for seafood and a walk on the beach in North Berwick.

Days 6-7: Edinburgh

You’ve made it to the Scottish capital, and your final destination. Located in the heart of the city and just a hop, skip and jump from the castle, The Balmoral Hotel, featured in the exclusive FINE HOTELS & RESORTS programme, is the ideal launchpad from which to explore.

Use your credit to indulge at the Michelin-starred restaurant, safe in the knowledge that you don’t have to check out until 4PM the next day, your Great British road trip completed.
