Portland is as famous for its lively nightlife scene as it is for it’s beautiful location. A strong drinking culture built on micro-breweries, alternative rock and vibrant LGBT scene make for a night out you won’t forget in a hurry. Did we mention Portland also has the most strip clubs per capita of any American city? More on that below.

Tope at The Hoxton

Located Downtown, Tope, the rooftop bar of The Hoxton hotel, is a bright and comfortable setting to wind down after a spot of shopping. The menu is packed with margarita variations and mezcal drinks with playful names such as “Fist Bump” and “Carrot On My Wayward Son”. Go just before sunset and bask in the golden rays bouncing off the city rooftops.

10 Barrel Brewing Co.

A visit to this award-winning craft brewery rarely disappoints. It’s equipped with an impressive selection of beers, including sours, Belgian witbiers and, if you’re feeling a little more adventurous, beer cocktails. There’s even a rooftop bar upstairs that offers panoramic views of the West Hills and the Pearl District – weather permitting, of course.

Bar West

Much like its modern interiors, Bar West creates refreshing cocktails that are elegant and stylish. The perfect spot to grab a spritzy highball after you’ve sampled the delights of 23rd Street, this comfortable space has a little living room set in the corner and shelves of hanging plants directly above the bar that demand to be posted on social media.

Keys Lounge

Radio Room (another great bar) owners Brian Alfrey and Mike Gadberry converted the former King neighbourhood key shop into a mid-century bar decked out with wood panelling, Persian rugs and cosy leather booths. There’s an indoor fire pit for colder nights and DJ booth for when the mood strikes and you need a good old boogie.

Revolution Hall

Sitting atop the former Washington High School, Revolution Hall is the best place to come if you want to enjoy a drink and full views of the city. It’s also a popular venue for live music, so check out its website before you go to see if there’s anything on during your stay.

Alibi Lounge

This infamous tiki bar is a staple in east Portland and a total time warp. Tropical decor and neon-lit booths match a menu full of mai tais and Hawaiian snacks – the  perfect backdrop for debauchery. It could be 3AM in the 1970s or 3PM in 2017… Either way, drink up.

Devil’s Point

We wouldn’t usually recommend strip clubs but the ones in Portland deserve their own reality TV show and offer something a little different. You’ve got the steak-and-strip joint The Acropolis, the Suicide Girls doing their sassy thang at Casa Diablo, and then Devil’s Point, which holds Sunday night ‘stripperoke’, in which strippers work their magic while you work the mic.
