As eco-friendly lifestyles become increasingly popular; restaurants, bars, and clothing stores dedicated to green and ethical products are becoming commonplace. SUITCASE explores London’s trendiest hotspots to see how we’re keeping green…

Rafayel Hotel and Spa, Battersea

SUITCASE London Eco Guide 1

If  luxury and eco-conscious hotels aren’t a must for you, Hotel Rafayel will change that. This hotel has a planet care philosophy and stunning views across London. Their spa and gym proves that going green doesn’t mean you’re missing out.

Apex City of London Hotel, Tower Bridge

SUITCASE London Eco Guide 2

This trend-conscious hotel is high on our eco list. With on-site recycling and energy saving key cards it’s all about the environment. It’s also stylish with a trendy flare.

Vitao, West London

If you visit only one vegan restaurant in your lifetime, make it this one. It’s not just the delicious vegan meals we enjoy but the authentic vibe and cosmopolitan location.

The Duke of Cambridge Organic Pub, Islington

SUITCASE London Eco Guide 5

This all-organic gastro pub is one of our favourites. They source their organic food from independent producers and keep down their carbon footprint by using British suppliers. If you like fresh food and a menu that changes with the seasons this is an essential stop.

thegate, Hammersmith and Islington

If ever you’ve questioned whether vegetables can be chic you’ll find an answer here. This restaurant is devoted to great tasting and innovative vegetarian meals. Its veg with an edge – my favourite for date night.

Montezumas, East London

We’ve never been able to resist chocolate but stopping at Montezumas makes a guilty pleasure that little bit less guilty. It’s an organic chocolate store with truffles, beverages and nibbles.

Ozone Coffee Roasters, East London

If there is one coffee shop I go to with a good book and allow the day to drift away in, it’s this one. It’s not just the warm and rustic design of the café or their fair-trade philosophy. It’s the atmosphere that invites you to sit a while and consider a second, or third beverage. An afternoon well spent I think.

In Bloom London, Portobello Road

In Bloom’s seductive lingerie is all about celebrating femininity while protecting nature.

Eco Age, Chiswick, West London

This place gets my vote. Its actor Colin Firth’s environmentally friendly store, and the surprises start there. The shop stocks beautiful clothing (designed by Livia Firth), accessories and inspirational products for a greener lifestyle.

Junky Styling, East London

This store, set in the trendy heart of the East end was described as “high street fashion couture.” All garments are made by reconstructing high quality, second-hand clothing for guys and dolls.

Spitalfields Market, near Liverpool St Station

All Sunday mornings should start here. For years this market has attracted locals and tourists alike. It has a range of unique stalls and boutique stores. Whether jewellery or toys, you won’t get it anywhere but Spitalfields.

Portobello Road Market, Kensington

Continuing with a market theme here is entirely necessary. Portobello market is one of the most vibrant places in London. If your there on a Saturday you’ll not be able to resist the smells of authentic food from around the world. TIP: The Churro’s with melted chocolate are a must!

Tate Modern, South East London

A trip to London would not be complete without a visit to the Tate Modern. Set in a converted power station, the Tate features both modern and contemporary art as well as captivating installations. From Warhol to Picasso you’ll be in a permanent state of wonder.

xo-3 Laptop

An eco-friendly and ethical guide has to support an eco-friendly and ethical product. The xo-3 Laptop is about as ethical as gadget brands come. It’s promise is one laptop per child. It’s mission is to empower the world through educating children.

Barclays Cycle Hire

If you’re going  green the Barclays Cycles are the best way to travel and they keep you fit! With 570 docking stations in London there’s no excuse not to try them out.
