The Getty Villa

Once the private gallery of oil tycoon J. Paul Getty, the Getty Villa is a replica of an ancient Roman villa excavated in Herculaneum. Today, it is an educational centre and museum dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of Ancient Greece, Rome and Etruria. While the art is impressive, the sheer grandeur and opulence of this estate is the villa’s main allure.

Venice Beach Boardwalk

No trip to Venice is complete without a walk down the boardwalk, though one trip will be more than enough. Start at the Santa Monica playground for adults, complete with tight ropes and rings, and then head south to Venice’s Muscle Beach and famous skate park.

Hit the Beach

There are as many beautiful beaches in LA as there are beautiful people, but for an experience that doesn’t involve an abundance of sunburnt tourists, head over to neighbouring Malibu. Point Dume, with its incredible surf, is our preferred posting, followed by Zuma Beach – although it can be a tad overcrowded due to its accessible parking. After a healthy dose of Vitamin D, hit The Sunset on Westward Beach Road for an evening sundowner.
