Golden Shower by Chinchin
From the owners of Chin Chin, the hottest izakaya in town, Golden Shower by Chin Chin is an Instagrammers nirvana, thanks to its millennial-pink interiors. Unmarked, head to the rear of the building, by way of graffiti-emblazoned alley before opening up to this pretty blush paradise. Inside, snack on small plates of seared Hokkaido scallops and wash down with a cocktail from a menu heavy with classics – from daquiris to negronis – but with a modern twist.

Out of Nowhere
A hipster coffee shop called Holdup by day, come nightfall, prise open the orange fridge doors at the back to reveal a hip urban cocktail bar called Out of Nowhere. With a menu inspired by its former home as the Nostalgia Inn, expect sentimental sips such as the roti satu, made with smoked wood-chip rum, coconut espresso, toasted bread infusion and jackfruit foam.

Magazine 63
The mother of all hidden bars, Magazine 63 is located behind an unassuming shophouse marked only by a small white flag that says alcohol in Mandarin character. Subterra, original exposed bricks create an urban canvas for old-world Chinese decadence, complete with low-level moody lighting, red hanging lanterns and an umbrella-covered ceiling. On the menu are the usual suspects, along with off-menu mixes such as the cocktail beer – a blend of Carlsberg, tequila, rum, vodka, gin, lime and sugar.
