When it comes to shopping, Milan has it all. As an international hub for fashion and design, it boasts inspiring addresses for any taste and pocket.

If you’re after high-end fashion designer stores, the famous Quadrilatero della Moda (Fashion Quadrilateral) is your neighbourhood. Head to Via Monte Napoleone, Via della Spiga, Via Gesù or Via Sant’Andrea to glimpse at the showstopping windows of the Italian fashion army. Here you will also find some of the best cosmetics and perfume suppliers such as the uber-Milanese Mazzolari, as well as multi-brand curated boutiques such as Banner and Gio Moretti.

For an easy-going atmosphere and more affordable options, browse the Duomo area instead. Corso Vittorio Emanuele offers a great mix of mid-level high-street brands from all over the world, including Max Mara and & Other Stories. Don’t miss the historical Rinascente department store: eight floors of exquisite fashion, beauty and design, as well as restaurants, bars and a lovely roof terrace.

For small boutiques trusted by locals head to Brera – dreamy dresses at Luisa Beccaria, delicate pieces at forte_forte, minimal and timeless designs at Hidden Forest Market, and the finest luxury vintage at Cavalli e Nastri. For jewellery, don’t miss the small stores of Merú and Tità Bijoux. The historical 5 Vie area also has the cutest variety of stores, from the impeccably curated Lizard and its niche brands to the beautiful space of The Cloister with unique vintage finds.

In the Corso Como area, you should definitely check out 10 Corso Como, a creative micro-world consisting of a fashion store, an art gallery, a bookshop, a restaurant-café and even a hotel. Not far away, Eataly offers the best Italian culinary experience and food shopping.

A high-end, multi-brand concept store that exhibits the most exciting designers and must-have garments. The accessories and shoe selection is one of the most addictive sections of this store – take it from one fashion victim to another.

This newly opened concept store is a celebration of Japanese values and aesthetic. The large industrial open space is neatly organised to showcase a bespoke selection of clothing, homeware, accessories, books and decor. Minimalism and high quality dictate the space, while a bistro serving traditional Japanese food adds the final touch to the concept.

Hidden from the bustling Corso Como 10, this former factory has been one of the city’s favourite destinations for affordable design since 1982. A big marketplace for beautiful yet functional items, from furniture to objects, clothing to homeware. With a casual mix of different styles, it’s a store that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Bivio Milano

You’ll never leave Bivio empty-handed. This fashion dreamland counts three stores around town, each overflowing with second-hand designer pieces bought directly from the fashionable Milanese crowd. Here clients buy and sell, but the selection is scrupulous and the quality high. This is a fashion “resale” store that won’t leave you disappointed.

Funky Table

Finding perfection in the deliberately imperfect, this decor store in the 5 Vie area is irresistibly intriguing. With the most bizarre curation of items, it offers unusual decorative objects and quirky tableware from all over the world. Take a colourful journey through time and space, and find the best gift to take home.

Wait and See

“Wait and See” – it’s an invitation that asks for time and promises wonders. This unique boutique located in an 18th-century former convent, boasts a cool and eclectic selection of womenswear, bijoux and objects. With the belief that luxury should be affordable and the slogan La Vita è Bella as their mantra, it will surely make for a positive experience.

Atelier VM

A bold neon sign outside leads to delicate golden pieces inside. This niche jewellery store with atelier provides romantic designs that suit everyone. Defining the store as an “alchemical laboratory”, the two founders work with metals and stones to create refined jewels that tell a story. Expect minimal lines, but maximum impact.

Right in the Montenapoleone area, this is an elegant multi-brand boutique that has been a popular shopping destination since the ‘90s. More than just a store, this is a beautiful three-floor space where clothing and setting enhance each other – think: luminous glass windows, real tree trunks, fresh flowers and vintage furnishings.

SIX Gallery

Unified in the pursuit of excellence, SIX Gallery is a diverse space that hosts a design gallery and a modern bistro. Entering from the lush yard, it welcomes you in a modern and exotic area showcasing design pieces from different epoques and origins. After looking at some Gio Ponti’s creations, you can enjoy cocktails and dinner at the intimate Sixème bistro.

Located in the dynamic Isola district, this plant and flower shop is nothing short of charming. Founded by Mario and his French bulldog Giulietta, Offi is a secret enchanted space, where to reconnect with the beauty of nature. Partly jungle, partly neo-colonial home, it will inevitably strike a romantic chord.

Laboratorio Paravicini

Hidden in the famous crafty ‘5 vie’ (5 streets) of Milan stands the small ceramics laboratory of Costanza Paravicini and daughter Benedetta Medici. In this store that feels almost like a dreamland, the most delicate one-of-a-kind plates, bowls, cups and tea pots are shaped, baked, hand-painted, and baked again, resulting in precious works of art. All pieces and collections are made by order. Even if you’re not looking for a new set for your kitchen, it is definitely well worth the visit.
