Fresh off the back of South Korea’s coolest electronic music festival, Ultra Korea, we got three of the shows’ hottest acts to give us the lowdown on in-the-know party spots and where to find the best Korean barbecue in town.


Renowned on the global music festival track, this Miami-based electronic duo have a knack for producing earworm tunes and world tours with Rihanna and Calvin Harris under their belt.

Where’s the best place for dinner?

A local seafood joint. They always have fish tanks and marine life in the windows. Try the sannakji (live octopus) – it’s definitely one to tick off the bucket list. There’s nothing quite like feeling your food hold onto your teeth…

We want to party all night. Where should we go?

Hands down Octagon. It’s been our favourite place to play so far – such a fun dance vibe and the design inside is dope!

How should we spend the perfect day in the city?

Take advantage of the public transport like the crazily intricate subway system and visit Gyeongbokgung Palace to see some of the culture and history. Then walk the grounds of the old palace with the cityscape backdrop. Do some shopping in the local street markets and then get stuck into some local cuisine.

What’s in should we pack in our SUITCASE?

Comfortable shoes, a good hat, a camera and a thirst for good times.

A legendary name on the Ibiza circuit, this UK-born Grammy nominee is an internationally acclaimed DJ, producer and label owner and is constantly releasing killer house and techno tunes – look out for his debut album, My Heart, out 20 October.

Where’s the best place for dinner?

My favourite food in the world has got be Korean barbecue. Seoul obviously has loads of options, but I think Maple Tree House is my favourite.

We want to party all night. Where should we go?

Octagon Club is always fun. They have an awesome second room where they spin vinyl only.

What’s your all-time favourite place in town?

It has to be on stage at Ultra Korea. I watched the Seoul Olympics as a child and to play in the same stadium is amazing.

Tell us about a hidden or secret spot.

Alice, a bar in Cheongdam-dong, has some of the best cocktails I’ve ever tasted.


Having trained as a guitarist in Japan, this South Korean DJ and producer has done the rounds of the world’s biggest festivals and is currently collaborating with the likes of Fedde Le Grand and Florian Picasso.

Where’s the best place for dinner?

It’s tough to pick one, but if I had to it would be Sim Yang – a Chinese lamb barbecue place. We also have our classic Korean barbecue spots all over Seoul which are great.

How should we spend the perfect day in the city?

Spending the day exploring the Gyeongbok Palace on the Cheonggyecheon stream. At night, go for Korean barbecue – and then party at my show!

We want to party all night. Where should we go?

Octagon where I play regularly is the most famous and number five on DJ Mag’s Top 100 clubs in the world. Be careful where you go though, because you won’t be leaving before people start to go to work in the morning…

What’s your all-time favourite place in town?

Nam Mountain. You can see whole of Seoul when you climb up to the top. I go there when I need inspiration.

What should we pack in our SUITCASE?

Hangover drinks. You’ll get through a lot of soju (traditional Korean alcohol) when you’re having dinner with Koreans – we drink a lot!
