To Drink

This little spot is a warehouse space filled with some really great antique and industrial pieces. They also have a banging contemporary Thai food menu, and you’ll catch some of Bangkok’s great DJs spinning 90s R&B, 60s to 80s rock and Japanese electro-pop.

River View Guest House Rooftop

Behind Chinatown in an old area full of shophouses selling used car parts, the understated River View Guest House sits quietly on the Chao Praya river. Their rooftop bar has an uninterrupted view of the river and you can see two different viewpoints of a vast Bangkok from the one standing point. Don’t expect five-star luxury service here, it’s more of a sunset hang out with probably one of the greatest views in town.

Barka Bar

This chipboard cladded shoebox space, tucked behind a bicycle shop in the ‘cool kid’ part of town (Aree) is the definition of a bottle rocket. They make cocktails that pack a punch and plate up very hearty food. The guys behind it know a thing or two about mixology and aren’t afraid to try ‘bold’ out for size, even when their kitchen is smaller than a closet.

Teriyaki Bar Kelly's

The Sukhumvit area of Bangkok has a huge Japanese community, so here you’ll find some great watering holes that mimic the fun vibe of those in Japan. Meet Kelly’s a recent addition to the Bangkok food and drinks scene that serves up good grub that goes perfect with their sakes, umeshus and bottomless beers. Hang out in their homey setting that celebrates all things wooden. Yes, they have an all-you-can-drink deal where you do just that for 4 hours at 400 baht (about $12).

Studio Lam

If live Japanese noise art, old school Thai funk, and homemade Thai whisky takes your fancy, then take yourself to Studio Lam, a project of one of Bangkok’s coolest DJ’s, Maft Sai. This bar is home to the real-deal of speakers, and some great room acoustics. They are home to great live performances and some really interesting cocktails and a killer range of bourbons. Wild.
