COMO Cocoa Island

The Maldives

This quintessential private-island escape (originally discovered by German photographer Eric Klemm back in the 70s) is due to reopen its doors following a major revamp. The Maldivian private-island resort is now kitted out with a pilates- and open-sided yoga studio, which sits in an elevated position to take in the 360-degree lagoon views, and has extended its activities offering to now include wreck diving, UV night snorkelling and shark expeditions.

Sequoia

Adelaide, Australia

Consider Adelaide your new favourite Aussie. Its fantastic wine-and-dining scene is what first caught our attention and now, with the imminent opening of Sequoia, we're fully committed. From the team at the well-heeled Mount Lofty House in the rolling Adelaide Hills, this ultra-luxe 14-suite affair will sit alongside the existing property. Expect rooms kitted out with sandstone-clad fireplaces and free-standing bathtubs.

hotel

Ruby Lucy

London, UK

The 76-room hotel from Munich-based hotel brand Ruby Hotels is launching its first UK property next year. Located on the Southbank's Lower Marsh, the group's "lean luxury" philosophy means guests can expect laid-back comfort instead of formalities. The decor will be inspired by the area's bustling markets and fairs, with a rogue carnival theme running throughout. Dark tones, subtle stripes and juggling pins are likely to be commonplace here.

Can Ferrereta

Mallorca, Spain

Kicking open its doors just in time for summer season, Can Ferrereta - on the ever-popular Spanish island of Mallorca - is a shoe-in with the gypset and other discerning travellers. hotel

Xigera Safari Lodge

Okavango Delta, Botswana

Bookmark Xigera Safari Lodge (which opens in June 2020) as Botswana's most luxurious new offering. Positioned on the western side of the Moremi Game Reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta, its location is nothing short of idyllic. With just 12 impeccably designed rooms available, this is the kind of place where guests can expect to be welcomed by an array of punchy artwork, considered furnishings and fixtures. The lodge is also 100 per cent solar powered, which gets a double-thumbs up from us.

hotel

Arthaus Gemmayze

Beirut, Lebanon

The new "it" place to stay while in Beirut, this 19-room property located in bohemian Gemmayze is spread across four houses. The collective properties were formerly the home of art collectors Nabil and Zoe Debs - hence the name - and their influence feeds through much of this project. Once open, its guests will be able to ogle over art pieces from the Debs' personal collection and will be invited to attend bespoke salon-style events.

hotel

Zedwell

London, UK

A sleep-centred hotel is coming to London in 2020. Its tagline of "our key to calm in the heart of London's busy Piccadilly" enticed us - almost as much as it's founding principles. Zedwell has been built entirely with sleep and wellness in mind; expect rooms specifically designed to limit anxiety and distractions. Innovative soundproofing means you can snooze soundly in London's centre. Despite the eagerness surrounding its opening, with over 700 rooms advance booking may not be necessary - yet.

hotel

Ambiente: A Landscape Hotel

Arizona, US

In the wilds of Sedona, you'll unearth Ambiente, the first hotel in North America designed to landscape architecture principles. Blending into (but also enhancing) the natural environment, its 40 cube-shaped rooms (and spa) are all but camouflage against the surrounding rust-red vistas. Many rooms will have rooftop decks, so be sure to make the most of Ambiente's dark-sky reserve location.

hotel

Amanvari

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Located in Baja's East Cape, Amanvari, will feature a resort, private Aman Residences, multiple dining venues, an Aman Spa and its own private stretch of white-sand beach. Still, despite its roster of amenities the property is certain to maintain its calm demeanor. Where most other hotels in Cabo San Lucas offer late nights and good times exclusively, Amanvari offers escapism, serenity - oh, and an eco island with overwater stilted units.

KEX Portland

Oregon, US

From the group behind the stylish KEX hotel in Reykjavík, Iceland, this "social hotel" (the sociable atmosphere and chilled vibes are brand staples) is going stateside. hotel

The Guardsman

London, UK

This boutique hotel on Buckingham Gate (near Buckingham Palace) is flagged as London's swankiest new opening of 2020. Interiors will be stately - think gilded frames, herringbone parquet flooring and velvet armchairs - with a club-like ambience. Comprising of 53 rooms, in addition to six private residences on its top three floors, The Guardsman is rumoured to be a big advocate of personalised stays. Expect your preferred drinks to be stocked in the minibar and 24-hour room service to cater to your every whim for the duration of your stay.

17.Airelles Château De Versailles, Le Grand Contrôle

Versailles, France

Three historical buildings on the grounds of the Palace of Versailles are being turned into a hotel next year, and we are très heureux about it. The forthcoming hotel will have 14 rooms and apartments (which boast views of the orangery) as well as a spa and indoor pool, plus a restaurant by chef Mr Alain Ducasse. As and added perk, guests will get VIP access to the Palace of Versailles, along with its famous Hall of Mirrors.

hotel

Paragon 700 Boutique Hotel and Spa

Puglia, Italy

Paragon 700 Boutique Hotel and Spa is the only red Palazzo in the heart of the White City, Ostuni (so it'll be a cinch to spot it on arrival). Set to open in February 2020, the Puglian property boasts 11 individually decorated rooms (we're obsessed with the Paragon Suite), a lush garden and swimming pool.

Rajasthan, India

Just a three-hour drive from Jaipur is the transformed 14th-century fort soon to be known as Six Senses Fort Barwara. The 5.5-acre site was originally home to the Rajasthani royal family and is comprised of three original palaces and two temples. Taking over what was once one of the palaces will be an Ayurvedic spa, which will offer a wellness programme that includes meditation classes.
