Park your boat at the restaurant’s private beach and disembark in time for dinner. Well not quite. Situated on Perivolos Beach, the restaurant is just few metres away from the sea, so you can dip your toes in the volcanic pebbles while enjoying your relaxing meal. Post-dinner, linger a while and take in the nightly live jazz music while your meal digests.

Located in Fira, the capital of Santorini, Argo’s large open-air location draws a big crowd, hungry for panoramic views of the caldera. A great spot for that Instagram-worthy meal, our advice is to snag a table away from the touristy throng downstairs. With an environmentally-friendly kitchen and a menu that mixes Greek with international dishes (the Santorini fava and patatina are musts) dining at Argo leaves a seriously good taste.

Head here when you’re tired of Greek menu mainstays and want to sample fresh fish prepped another way. Opt for customised rolls if you’re fussy, though we recommend the tasting menu. With views of the blue dome church of Saint Gerasimos in your peripheral vision, Ginger Sushi wins on food, atmosphere and cocktails.

This sunny beach venue is located a stone’s throw from Fira. Yalos’ subtle nautical-inspired design sees boats repurposed as sofas, sails as sun shields and weathered wooden furniture dotted across the restaurant. Highlighting their commitment to a theme, interiors are awash with shades of sea green and aquamarine blue. Menu highlights include grilled peppers, ouzo-tinged pasta dishes and Greek salads with huge caper berries.
