The Carry On: December 2018

The
Carry On is our monthly round up of our favourite travel
items we’d happily haul from Stansted to
Seville
, Heathrow to Hydra. Be it a functional fedora or
the latest in skincare science, we’ve probably got it in our
luggage. Riffing on the adage “if you can think it, you can be it”
– we’re saying: “If you can jam it in your
carry on
… you can bring it.” Catchy.

Note: weight restrictions and other practicalities do not
apply.

Quilted Eiderdown

Preen Home

If young children can carry around a security blanket and
squirrels have been approved on airlines as “anxiety animals”, we
see no reason why we can’t drag our duvet through departures for
our own comfort levels. This down-filled, quilted eiderdown,
crafted using silk satin is perfect for any traveller who loves
sleep (and sumptuous pattern work). The double-sided floral quilt
features contrasting rainbow florals and coordinating ruffle trim.
On arrival at your hotel throw across your bed for a home away from
home feel.

Campbell-Rey Straws

CLOS19

Straws have suddenly become chic. Not the single-use plastic
types that have festered in rusting straw caddies atop bars for way
too long (seriously, why are you even considering putting that in
your mouth) but the elegant and sustainable kind. Aspirational
upgrades from paper and pasta prototypes, these limited-edition
glass straws by Clos 19 are designed in collaboration with Duncan
Campbell and Charlotte Rey. Hand-blown in Murano, each straw has
been crafted in a solid colour with colour-contrasting thread
spiralling through it. A must have mealtime accessory – we have
ours at the ready whether sipping at the hotel bar or our work
desk.

The Littles Kit

Drunk Elephant

This nifty collection of travel-sized skincare products was
created to improve tone, texture and natural glow. Consider it the
mac-in-a-sac of dermatology. Small but mighty, each miniature
skincare saviour – from the Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser to the Lala
Retro™ Whipped Cream (a blend of six rare African oils whipped up
into an all-purpose rescue cream) – is compatible with all skin
types. Regardless of occasion or destination, it’s a good kit to
have to hand, and the reusable travel bag is quite the looker.

Beauty Bear Age Delay Pillow

Nurse Jamie

The number three cause of premature ageing is poor sleeping
habits, meaning that frequent flyers are in the firing line.
Fighting the good fight, Nurse Jamie has created a pillow to
minimise wrinkles while you sleep. The Beauty Bear Age Defy
Pillow’s genius lies in its unique U-shape design. Cradling your
face and neck, its silky, satin finish makes it feel a smidge more
stylish than your average travel pillow (we take ours on every
plane, train and automobile).

Perfect Legs Skin Miracle

This Works

IMDB (as we know it today) started life as a somewhat seedy
little black book of the best legs in Hollywood. While times have
moved on (for the most part), the pursuit of perfect pins – screen
doyenne or otherwise – remains. Perfect Legs Skin Miracle is a
powerful tinted serum with vitamin C to repair and enhance. A
powerful complex of vitamin C and vitamin E helps even out skin
tone and restructure the skin, while arnica helps to fade bruising.
We like to lash some on 30 minutes before landing, making bare legs
mandatory from the moment your plane touches down.

Revival RD70 Radio

Roberts

Early Roberts receivers were modelled in a traditional suitcase
format. While almost every Roberts product cuts it in the kitschy
cute stakes, the 1950s styling of the RD70 is hard to trump. Stream
music from your smartphone and with two alarms (plus sleep and
snooze timers) you can wake up and drift off (by the hotel pool) to
your radio. Ok so it’s one more thing to pack in your luggage –
admittedly it’s probably a lot bigger and heavier than your alarm
clock (or, you know, your phone) but it is entirely necessary for
that low-grade Desert Island Discs addiction.
