Miss Clara, Stockholm

Beginning
life as an all-girls school in 1910, the iconic
art-nouveau building which houses boutique Stockholm hotel Miss
Clara
has come a long way since the days when students walked
its halls. But while it’s named after one of the most fondly
remembered headmistresses of the institution, you’ll find nothing
to remind you of chalkboards and textbooks – so fret not that
memories of elasticated gym knickers will hit you on check-in.
Instead, thanks to a sleek renovation from award-winning architect
Gert Wingardh, low-key Scandi minimalism combines with industrial
glamour for a designer stay you’ll be Instagramming for weeks.

Behind an impressive façade on one of Stockholm’s main strips,
seductive interiors make use of retro furnishings, feminine touches
and plenty of dark wood panelling, exuding a warmth often missing
from Scandi design. And with its prime location, you won’t have to
go far when you want to snap away at something other than
#designporn.
