Where to Drink in Corfu, Greece

Sophisticated drinking dens and boho beach shacks, these are our go-to spots in Corfu for a glass of something glorious.

Imabari, Corfu

bar

Imabari

Ask any local where to go for good vibes and great cocktails and they’ll likely march you straight past the Palace of St Michael and St George to the city’s only beach bar – the achingly cool Imabari. Arrive mid-morning to bag one of the loungers: that way you can graze through the stellar brunch menu – from acai-based energy bowl to truffle eggs benedict – with a mango cocktail on the side. Come sunset, the pace picks up as revellers gather to let loose to live DJ sets. Your kind of scene? Head to the bar and watch one of the master mixologists whip up a signature Sunray Spritz.

Bristol Cafe, Corfu

bar

Bristol Cafe

Bristol Cafe is one of those bougie bars that the Greeks would rather keep for themselves, and with one glance at its retro-cool interiors, we can hardly blame them. Founded in 1910, this deceptively artsy hangout can be found on the corner of Vrahlioti Square – once you’ve tracked down the apricot-coloured facade and forest-green shutters you’ll know that you’re in the right place. Inside, dramatic lightbulb chandeliers hang from wooden beams, while floor-to-ceiling shelves are stacked with spirits we didn’t even know existed. Though perhaps the real draw aside from the imaginative cocktails, is their impressive jazz and soul soundtrack.

Sway Bar & Kitchen

bar

Sway Bar & Kitchen

This fun, intimate little bar has character that spills out into the street, as does its tables. Just as well, as it’s the sort of place that’s always busy. Decked out with high-vaulted ceilings, black-matte pendant lights and leather bar stools, and boasting an impressive selection of international wines, though the food is also globally inspired. Round up the troops for a full session of plate-sharing and cocktail-tasting. Rumour has it that the dirty fries paired with the grilled octopus makes for a magical combination.

Cavalieri Roof Garden

Cavalieri Roof Garden

If your holiday vision board includes sipping a sundowner on a rooftop terrace, book yourself a spot at Cavalieri Roof Garden – pronto. Perched on the sixth-floor of the handsome Cavalieri Hotel – the former mansion home of a 17th century Count, no less – this lofty lookout offers sweeping views across the old fortress and sparkling sea beyond. Open evenings-only from June to October, this age-worn but sultry venue is not to be missed.
