7Peaks Brasserie & Bar

Craft beer devotees, look no further than 7Peaks, the bar named after the seven summits of the Dents du Midi, with each having its own corresponding brew. Enjoy your pint with snacks at the brasserie, take a bottle away with you or, if you fall madly in love with a particular variety, order a case to be delivered to any Swiss address. Staff here are engaging and, most importantly, genuinely passionate about beer. There's also a new on-site food truck, and tours of the brewery can be arranged for groups of eight or more.

Les Celliers de Sion

Calling all would-be sommeliers: pioneering “wine park” Les Celliers de Sion, at the foot of the Clavau vineyards, above Sion, offers a broad selection of tasting opportunities. Of particular note for beginners is its one-hour Art of Wine Tasting initiation, which invites guests to sample a selection of fine Bonvin and Varone grapes, along with a lesson in how best to swill your glass convincingly. The course takes place from Friday to Sunday.

Restaurant de Combatseline

Make a pit stop here, a 10-minute ride from Siviez, at the top of the Combatseline chairlift, even if just for the chef’s speciality homemade liquor, “le penché”, which can be enjoyed either on its own or as a sidekick to the restaurant’s traditional Swiss fare (think fondue and meat platters). The lively venue, decked out in traditional Valais-style furnishing, attracts a buzzy crowd of outdoor enthusiasts during both the ski and hiking seasons, and boasts splendid views over the surrounding mountains year-round.
