Forget resort-heavy Kuta and overcrowded Seminayak, Canggu is a bohemian fishing village that has been a closely guarded secret among the surf crowd since the 1970s, thanks to big wave breaks, family-run warungs (Indonesian roadside cafés) and independent art galleries, which today draw a creative set.
