Seven of the Best Hotels on the Amalfi Coast

Pastel-hued Positano or the rustic hillsides of Ravello? Once you've settled on where to base yourself (or how many stop-offs are economically and logistically possible) on the Amalfi Coast, it's time to book accommodation. Here are seven of our all-time favourite hotels to inspire your itinerary.

Villa TreVille

Off the beaten path, Villa Tre Ville is an homage to its former owner, Italian director Franco Zeffirelli. Scattered over four villas, its 15 suites have been named after famous operas, ballet dancers, actors and writers associated with Zeffirelli, yet given a modern spin with Sonos sound systems and access to a fully equipped gym. The on-site restaurant, La Pergola, is so good you’ve no reason to leave.

Le Sirenuse

In pastel-hued Positano, Le Sirenuse reigns supreme. Historic and glamorous in equal parts, the hotel has killer views which mean that the on-site Michelin-starred La Sponda is permanently booked up. (It's A-class Mediterranean-flavoured menu might also have something to do with it).

Via Cristoforo Colombo 30, 84017 Positano

Palazzo Avino

Ravello, Italy

Palazzo Avino (or as locals know it, the "Pink Palace") sits high on Ravello's hillside. With bucket loads of Italianate grandeur - vaulted ceilings, decorative tiled floors and the like - the hotel delivers la dolce vita. Add its Michelin-starred restaurant, Rossellinis, to the mix - surely one of the most romantic dinner spots in town - and we are done.

Via San Giovanni del Toro 28 84010 Ravello Amalfi Coast Italy

Monastero Santa Rosa

Prince Albert of Monaco was one of the first guests to stay at Monastero Santa Rosa and today such regality endures. Positioned between Positano and Amalfi, the hotel is perched dramatically on the edge of a sheer cliff; there is nothing low-key about this place.

Capo La Gala Hotel & Spa

Five miles from Sorrento, this nautical-themed hotel (more refined than it reads) is a spirited spot. Even the Michelin-starred Maxi (which sits above the pool) dons navy blue tablecloths worthy of a sailor.

Il San Pietro Di Positano

With the Michelin-starred Zass restaurant, panoramic views from the pool and celebrity endorsement courtesy of guests including Sting and Barbra Streisand, it’s small wonder that Il San Pietro has us crooning.

Palazzo Murat

Tucked among Positano’s busy lanes, this 18th-century baroque palace has been converted into an ogle-worthy hotel. Beamed ceilings, four-poster beds and a restaurant on a canopied garden patio – you get the idea.
