Island of Light Sri Lanka

I'm in Sri Lanka. Pools of light are swimming on the grass, an unknown mellow smell lingers in the air. Along the streets, women sell coconuts and other yard treasures.

Branches strike my legs as I venture along a hidden pathway to one of the east coast's lonely beaches. The landscape here is a patchwork of ruins; I gaze upon the former homes of families, lovers and lost souls. All that's left is chalky grey.

In the three weeks spent wandering around the island, I visit Buddhist temples and local fish markets, travel from Unesco World Heritage Sites to sprawling cities. Each of my senses are overwhelmed: my eyes feel as if saturated with colour, my ears adjust to different sounds. I have never been so deeply moved.
