Colombia is like a dream; fantastical, confusing, vibrant and unpredictable in equal parts. We split our time between Bogotá and Cartagena. To an outsider, the disparities between the two cities in their varying colours, climate and lifestyle make them seem like different countries altogether. But both are beautiful in place and people; the Colombians are possessed by a love for life that makes it an honour to be in their presence. This is ever more remarkable considering the country's tangled history, with daily life quickly flickering between the 21st century and a colonial past. Our trip to Colombia wasn't relaxing - we didn't kick back on the beach in those whirlwind ten days. But those kinds of travels don't create the best stories, the ones that are repeated for years after. This series serves as a poster child for why you should travel: to experience things that you can only start to understand if you have been.
