Story: This album is a record of my three-month trip around New Zealand, in particular the South Island. I travelled along the west coast from Marlborough Sounds to the Fiords and then spent time in Otago and the Mackenzie Basin, before visiting Oamaru and Moeraki on the east coast.

Fiordland is the place of unforgettable beauty and grandeur. Mountain walls rise upwards out of the ocean and waterfalls cascade down the cliff faces. People come and go, but the landscape remains unchanged, barely touched by humans. This is the place where you can learn humility, rediscover an ability to wonder and dream with your eyes wide open.

Marlborough Sounds offer a different kind of beauty. Calm and peaceful, they are best experienced along the walking tracks or from a boat on the water either. Central Otago, with its glassy lakes and snowy Alps seems to cry out for adventure, offering climbing, walking, cycling trails, white-water rafting and bungee jumping.

We go to New Zealand when we want to experience the sheer wilderness. It’s a land which seems to be between worlds, born out of fantasy and fairytales, with its lakes, mountains, forests and Maori culture. Its beauty has a universal quality that almost familiar, like we’ve been here before – probably in our dreams.
