What to Do in Zurich, Switzerland

Zurich may be Switzerland’s powerhouse city, but its infectious work-hard, play-hard energy is refreshingly offset by a love of nature and a healthy embrace of creative freedom.

Im Viadukt

One of Zurich's most exciting shopping, drinking and dining "streets" is, in fact, a repurposed railway viaduct, today full of indie design stores, studios and excellent eateries. We like Restaurant Markthalle for its seasonality and local flavours.

Emphasising Swiss art, this unmissable gallery is the country's largest art museum, housing a collection spanning from the medieval era to the present. An extension houses curated contemporary exhibitions.

Swimming and saunas

Zurich's many river and lake badis (public baths) are a must-visit. Lakeside saunas usually have bars and terraces. If you prefer a gender-specific venue, Frauenbad am Stadthausquai is women-only, while Freibad am Schanzengraben is for men.
