Awasi Iguazú, Argentina

This article appears in Volume 23: The Adventure Issue.

Ever wondered what it's like to sleep in the jungle - perhaps in a tree house on stilts - before hiking among some of the rarest flora and fauna on the planet? With the latest outpost from luxe hotel group Awasi, you need wonder no longer. Having built a reputation for exploration with lodges in Chilean Patagonia and Atacama, its newest launch is situated in the depths of the Atlantic rainforest and on the Argentine side of the arresting Iguazú Falls.

Awasi's markers stand firm in the resort's chic villas, knowledgeable and charming guides and incomparable location just 500m from the Brazilian border, meaning that guests can visit both sides of the famous falls in a single day. Upon arrival each villa is allocated a guide to help map out excursions, including private boat trips to 18th-century Jesuit ruins, visits to local Guaraní tribes, treks amid thousands of endemic plants and animals, and of course, the falls themselves. All are built into the nightly cost of the room alongside food and drink, so you can dial the activity level up - or down - as you please.

Rooms

All 14 villas are connected via winding pathways and include cloud-like beds, outdoor showers and a deck with a plunge pool - so if the adventure becomes a little too much you have more than enough reasons to put your feet up.
