So chimes cheerful co-owner Will as we unload the car into our perfect log cabin for a long weekend. Set in a remote part of central Wales, with no phone signal or WiFi, this remote Welsh glampsite is Will and wife Sarah's antidote to city stress.
Choose from several accommodation types - a cottage complete with hot tub, three wooden huts (with more planned, all to be joined by hot tubs in good time) and a couple of cosy bell tents.
We were staying in one of the huts. Each reminiscent of a miniature ski chalet, it's all pale timber (sourced and treated on-site) with a wood burner and generously proportioned four-poster bed, draped in flowing white curtains and featuring nifty bunks up top. A separate adjacent kitchenette is well-stocked with utensils, providing everything you need to cook up a storm to rival any which may be blowing outside. This is Wales, after all.
Creating the sense of adventure you get from actually camping but with plenty of luxurious home comforts - cough Burlington bathrooms, cough Le Creuset pots - led us to exclaim: "Gosh, it's like camping, but actually NICE!" Which really, is the definition of glamping. So it looks like they've nailed it.
The huts are a one-room affair, though there's space for four thanks to the clever double bed/ bunk arrangement - ideal for children, yet probably only if you're okay with putting the romance on hold (unless they're heavy sleepers). High ceilings create a sense of space along with sliding glass doors that allow you to admire the great outdoors 24/7.
It's self-catering, so come prepared - the market town of Builth Wells is a 20-minute drive away. There's no oven, but a stove and a barbecue are more than enough. Fresh eggs are available on site.
Gleaming white-tiled bathrooms a short walk from your accomodation have indulgent rainwater showers and normal loos. At your cabin: a kitchenette, wood burner, logs, barbecue/ fire pit and outdoor terrace seating.
We recommend packing a picnic and embarking on a gorgeous waterfall walk through the hills. A picnic blanket and a map with a plotted route can be found in your room.
10/10. We're not sure you can get more eco than these guys. Help them out by being mindful of your water consumption.
When we say there's no phone signal or WiFi here we mean it. If you're trying to WFH or are addicted to scrolling, steer well clear.
Will and Sarah are currently converting a building for weddings and events. Watch this space.
No dogs allowed due to the roaming sheep.
