What to Do in Hastings, East Sussex

A dynamic contemporary art gallery and wildly beautiful walks are what we’re bookmarking in this creative pocket of East Sussex.

The joy of choosing to spend a weekend (or a week) in a small, creatively minded coastal town lies in its digestibility. Rather than steeping in millennial guilt about galleries not visited, walks not taken, ice cream cones uneaten, and exhibitions left unseen, in Hastings, you can do it all-and do it well. On our schedule of must-sees in this artsy pocket of East Sussex? The latest exhibit at Hasting's Contemporary, a cutting-edge gallery directed with panache by Liz Gilmore, followed by a long walk down the recently restored pier. And maybe an ice cream.
