It's that time of year again. The season of cosy turtlenecks and even cosier winter pub sessions, yes - but also the season of darker evenings and days spent dreaming of sunnier climes (read: scrolling through browser tabs of last-minute winter-sun escapes). Yep, we see you. And we're here to help.
Because we guessed you might be craving some sun, sand, sea and spectacular sunsets right about now, we've teamed up with Milaidhoo Island to whisk one lucky reader and a friend off to the Maldives for a luxurious five-night B&B stay. Christmas has come early.
Secreted away on a thriving Unesco Biosphere Reserve, Milaidhoo is a small pocket of paradise that lies on the lesser-trodden side of Baa Atoll. It's the sort of resort where you'll find a multi-room spa, not multi-storey water slides: the hotel is restricted to children over the age of nine, so the only playground here is the adults-only bar.
You'll be holed up in one of the island's 50 spacious, thatched-roof villas, each with its own private pool, butler and widescreen views of the kingfisher-blue Indian Ocean. The winners will also enjoy a dinner for two at one of the resort's three restaurants, plus a spa treatment and dolphin cruise or snorkelling session. Return seaplane transfers are on us, too.
