Win a Two-Night Cotswolds Getaway at Dormy House

THIS COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED.

Sick of staying home? Sunshine, fresh air and a country escape are the best medicine

The call of the countryside has never sweet-talked us quite so much as in the last three months. As the grass begins to flourish on the greener side of lockdown, the prospect of staycations filled with woodland walks, wild swims and rosy-cheeked bicycle rides fringed by cow parsley are brightening our horizon.

Yet if you thought you had to be a country bumpkin - all oil jackets, horsey whiffs and frumpy farmhouses - to enjoy the sticks, Dormy House will prove you wrong. On the doorstep of Broadway, a quintessentially honey-hued Cotswolds village, this 17th-century pile has been sympathetically revamped with the kind of retro-chic, Scandi suave and high-end wholesomeness that makes it an ideal retreat for cooped up, city-weary folk.

That's why, when the hotel flings open its doors for summer, it's inviting you and a friend to enjoy a two-night stay, and a few extra treats to boot.

The Dormy House team has been busy during lockdown, polishing its Edison bulbs, setting log fires and brushing jewel-toned velvets to make this place more inviting than ever. Such country-chic suave would be painfully cool if it weren't for the state-of-the-art House Spa, on hand to soothe any aches. Sweat, steam, soak, repeat in its juniper-scented Finnish sauna, salt-infusion therapy room and outdoor hot tub before checking in for a truffle-infused facial.

The surrounding Farncombe Estate is prime territory for making the most of summer. Ask reception for a key to the secret Japanese garden or order a picnic hamper and head off into the grounds. A dip in Dormy House's infinity pool is our preferred way to cool off.

We realise all this relaxation is hard work, so we're lavishing winners with daily breakfasts - eggs benny with smoked salmon, please - as well as a dinner for two in the Back Garden restaurant where slow-grown, locally foraged produce is the order of the day. Just make sure to snag a window seat; a plum soufflé is best enjoyed with views across the estate.

Sated, pitch up in The Potting Shed, a revamped British boozer that doubles up as the hotel watering hole. Order a nightcap before retiring to one of Dormy House's 38 individually designed suites to sink into a king-sized bed. Good life? This is the Great Life.
