THIS COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED

Fancy a dalliance with Europe's coolest city this spring? We've teamed up with the team behind Amsterdam's edgiest stay, and smooth train operator Eurostar, to give one reader and a friend the chance to stay for two nights in a canal-view room at the Pulitzer Amsterdam. Included in the prize is a cocktail-fuelled dinner at the laid-back Jansz. restaurant, breakfast and return travel with Eurostar.

Jump on the sleek Eurostar train at London's St Pancras and, in under four hours, you will be pulling smoothly into Amsterdam Centraal, ready to begin your Dutch getaway.

With Standard Premier tickets, you can expect a light meal, free WiFi and a friction-free journey from start to end, plus spacious surroundings in which to relax and a generous baggage allowance, in addition to glorious views of European landscapes. Arriving in the city station, it's just a short walk across the canals to the landmark Pulitzer Amsterdam.

First things first: let's drop your bags off. Opened in 1960, the five-star stay recently reopened following an extensive renovation project led by acclaimed architect Jacu Strauss. Located in the historic Jordaan district, the 225-room hotel is a quirky maze of 25 historic canal-side buildings, all fabulously refurbished to match the creative essence of the Netherlands' capital. Interiors draw on the area's rich cultural heritage, blending contemporary design with nods to traditional Dutch craftsmanship.

Watch the world stream by on two wheels (and by barge) from your room, then head out to explore this historic district. Jordaan has a burgeoning art scene (check out pop-surrealist gallery KochxBos) and a plethora of much-loved vintage shops at which you can pick up an Amsterdam-appropriate outfit. You're just an easy stroll from the city sights, and surrounded by the bohemian hangouts of Amsterdam's café crowd.

Come evening, you'll be enjoying a reservation at Jansz. The Pulitzer's light-flooded restaurant plates up modern Dutch dishes such as shrimp croquettes, sea bass crudo with fennel and orange, and blushing venison over figs and celeriac. Cocktails are part of the package, so don't forget to order a florally dressed-up drink from the hotel's candlelit bar, before heading upstairs to bed down beneath the dark-wood beams of your plush city stay.

To enter, simply make sure you're following @suitcase and @pulitzer.amsterdam, then tag a friend you'd bring with you in the comments of this post.

Good luck!
