The Carry On: May 2019

The
Carry On is a monthly round up of our favourite travel items
we’d happily haul from Stansted to Seville,
Heathrow to Hydra.
Be it a functional fedora or the latest in skincare science, we’ve
probably got it in our luggage. Riffing on the adage: “If you can
think it, you can be it”, we’re saying: “If you can jam it in your
carry on… you can bring it.” Catchy.

Note: weight restrictions and other practicalities do not
apply.

Delfina slipper

ViBi Venezia

These Venetian pumps by ViBi Venezia are inspired by traditional
Furlane slippers – footwear adopted by gondoliers thanks to their
practical rubber soles. Artisanal, debonair and on the right side
of OTT, these mules are high on our shopping list for Venice (along with Murano glass
tumblers). Choose from a multitude of colours and fabrics in its
canalside store and leave chanting: “veni, vidi, vici” – I came, I
saw, I conquered.

Toothpaste Set

Marvis

Oral hygiene might not be the sexiest of pursuits, but it’s
important all the same. In readiness for the hotel bathroom
flatlays that will ensue post-check in, we’re rethinking our
morning routine with Marvis’s toothpastes. Clean and polish your
teeth with Jasmin Mint (it tastes like lavender pastilles),
Cinnamon Mint or Ginger Mint, then flash those pearly whites and
snap to your heart’s content.

Towelettes

Herban Essentials

Primarily, wipes are for cleansing hands and killing germs – and
we’ve been known to use them to double cleanse our aeroplane tray
tables. Once you’ve deemed your seat a “safe” zone from germs, it’s
worth examining these clever towelettes a little further. Available
with a variety of therapeutic-grade essential oils – lavender is
balancing, lemon is stimulating, peppermint is warming, eucalyptus
is invigorating and orange is uplifting – Herban Essentials’
single-note towelettes are naturally antibacterial and antiseptic.
Feeling decongested in-flight? Open up a eucalyptus towelette and
place on your chest to relieve congestion in minutes.

In-Flight Case

Anya Hindmarch

Anya Hindmarch, like us, is obsessed with organisation. An
indispensable purchase for busy travellers, this In Flight case has
two transparent labelled sections – one for take off and another
for touchdown. Considerably better than our battered plastic
sandwich bags then. Its clear exterior means you’ll find the
product you’re after twice as fast (we timed it) and the signature
tassel zip fastenings offer an added punch of fun.

Sowden bottle

HAY

An aesthetically pleasing water bottle if ever there was one,
Danish design brand HAY’s Sowden bottle is a chic and compact
addition to our carry on. Eliminating plastic bottles from your
flying experience is an important step to take and with this
reusable container, crafted in stainless steel with a screw lid,
the transition is extra easy. The functional design is suitable for
containing hot and cold drinks – so no need to stop for a flat
white en route to your gate.
